End of last year and the first month of this year was a hell of a ride. I was setting up a business together with my friend which was cancelled due to some issues .Then I got an offer to supply some cakes to local café (which was quite successful) but then I stopped it (only after a month) because I couldn’t keep up with the increasing demand. I’m having bad weeks of baking for a few weeks now. I baked lots of cakes which ended in my garbage bin, and I felt really bad for throwing so much of the failed cakes lately. We had visitors in the last couple of weeks, so we’ve been quite tight up with the ‘tourist guide’ role for the last 2 weekends.
While for this week, I had a business trip to Tokyo for 3 days. And of course, whenever I’m in Tokyo, I have a list of places that I have to visit. One of them is Sadaharu Aoki in Shin Kokusai Building – Marunouchi. His cakes are to die for. How I wish I could make it by myself. Continue reading
I always thought that Madeleine was just another sponge cake in a shell shape. It didn’t look appealing or interesting for me. Until one fine day my friend asked me to go to a Saturday cooking class with her. Initially I was not so eager to go because the course is not cheap. But, since I have promised to her that I would go, I registered for the class anyway.
One of the recipe that we tried last week was Madeleine. To be precise, it was orange madeleine. Out of the three recipes that we tried that day (chocolate fondant, madeleine, and pistachio souffle), it was the orange madeleine that caught my tummy :D…The madeline was crispy on the skin, fragrant and so soft in the middle. The orange zest really takes it to another level. This recipe really is a keeper. Continue reading
