I love watching Adam Richman’s show – Man vs food. Everything he ate in the show looks really tempting. One of the thing that he devoured was this juicy wet burger from Brennan and Carr. I have not tried the burger myself, but the dish is slightly different from the normal burger. It uses roast beef slices instead of burger patty and the roast beef is dunk into the roast beef broth before they put it in between bun. So the burger is wet and juicy. How i wish i could give it a try….
Anyway, since i don’t know how to cook that devilish good looking roast beef, I decided to make sukiyaki beef for the filling.. The sukiyaki beef is wet, juicy and has that sweet salty taste. So i guess this is a good enough replacement for the moment. This recipe is very easy to do.. only takes 20 mins to prepare, so anytime you feel lazy, you can make this for your dinner or lunch.
Sukiyaki Beef Burger
Things you need:
- 1 cup of sake
- 1 cup of mirin
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 4 tbsp sugar
- 250 gr beef slices
- 1 egg for poaching
- 1 tsp corn flour and 1 tsp of water mix together
- Black Pepper
- Half onion (optional) – slice into julienne cut
- Vegetable oil
- Burger Bun
Things you need to do:
Put all ingredients for sukiyaki sauce in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
Poach the egg in simmering water, set aside.
If you want to use onion: Cook the onion with a bit of vegetable oil until cooked and soft. Put aside.
Put some vegetable oil into the pan and cook the beef slices evenly (don’t crowd the meat) on both side. Pour the sukiyaki sauce into the beef slices. Cook them together. Add in the onion and the corn flour water. Reduce until the sauce becomes thick.
Slice the bun into 2 pieces. Then toast them with a bit of butter. Put the vegetable, beef and poached egg into the bun. Serve it with chips :)..
